Our client is a leader in retailing & recycling in Northern Canada. They employee almost 100 full time and part time staff. They are looking for a qualified financial administrator to join their growing team in Hay River, NT.


The Role

  • Prepare general ledger and supporting accounts within Simply Accounting
  • Prepare Accounts Payable and process cheques for singing & distribution
  • Reconcile all accounts and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, revenue & expenditure & cash flow
  • Maintain financial records and filing
  • AP/AR processing & reporting
  • Payroll
  • Administer group benefits and prepare bi-weekly payroll files
  • Administer audits on quality control centre
  • Maintain records for taxable benefits
  • Monitor remittances to Receiver-General for source deductions
  • Prepare WSCC reports and remittances
  • Banking
  • Reconcile monthly bank accounts
  • Monitor cash flow and cash management
  • Monthly invoice for storage and recycling clients
  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Prepare GST returns
  • Prepare year end information for the accountant
  • Prepare T4A submissions, monitor T4 preparation and distribution



  • Degree or diploma in business or administration
  • Certification in bookkeeping or financial management
  • At least 5 years of related experience, ideally with a not for profit organization
  • Strong computer skills including use of Simply Accounting and Excel
  • Expert understanding of accounting principles and standards


  • Competitive compensation depending on experience ($30-$35/hr typical)
